We once had the opportunity to celebrate a graduation at L.A. Burdick’s Restaurant in Walpole, New Hampshire. Graduation from the Putney School necessitated very special festivities and so we booked a table for dinner. We found ourselves in gourmet heaven as far as the menu, the food and the dessert selections. Since that auspicious evening of revelry, I have ordered for very special people the various gift offerings that Burdick’s sells on their website.
Recently, I received a brochure from them for Mother’s Day goodies. On the back, above and to the left of my name and address, there is a photo of cellophane-wrapped French macarons. I was fortunate to have taught English as a second language at the American University of Paris for a semester. During my stint in Paris, I sampled several different bakeries’ French macarons and I fell in love with this confection! The French macaron is an airy cookie-like confection that melts in one’s mouth with the sweet and distinctive flavor emanating outward, surrounding the taste-buds which utter cries of delight as they suck up the “yummyness” of this treat. Perhaps my description doesn’t do justice to the deliciousness of a truly perfect French macaron, perhaps it does. You’ll just have to order some from L.A. Burdick and experience it yourselves!
I know that the cellophane-wrapped macarons with an available coordinating ribbon that can be custom imprinted is the perfect wedding party favor. Available in chocolate, almond, ginger, lavender, raspberry and pistachio, wedding guests will never forget French macarons as a wedding favor. So, check out a few samples and tell us what you think of this trend for wedding favors!
