The transition between summer and autumn is a wonderful time to have a Sweet 16 Party, while sunflowers are in full bloom! Check out our sunny inspiration board below to see a few ideas of how fun and colorful it is to have a sunflower theme for your sweet sixteen party.
To start off, I selected a couple red photo sweet 16 invitations that would go well with sunflowers. Colors will certainly look more vibrant in this time of the year. Paint your special day with striking vivid shades of yellow, orange, and red balanced with some black and white.
A sweet sixteen party can be very formal, casual, or semi-formal. Whatever mood you decide to have, sunflowers will positively trumpet youth and joy at your birthday celebration.

You can spruce up your party venue with bright yellow balloons, sparkly crystal chandeliers, cute party poms, and fabulous floral lanterns. For your table décor, your centerpiece choices can include a wide range of possibilities: topiaries, wreaths, flower bowls, and/or luminaries. Foliage can be purely sunflowers or mix it up using other beautiful blossoms, such as gerber daisies, spider mums, freesias, bear grasses, and Hypericum berries or succulent citruses such as oranges, lemons, and grapefruits.
Of course, your sunny sweet sixteen party won’t be complete without a great menu: lemonades, citrus fruit salads, pastries with sunflower oil coating, honey dipped chicken, and mouth-watering desserts like candy apples, caramel popcorn balls, chocolate sunflower seeds, chocolate dipped pretzel rods, and sunflower cupcakes. YUM!!!
And don’t forget to set the mood further with coordinating tunes, like Weezer’s Island In The Sun, The GoAround’s The Sunflower Song, and Katrina and The Waves’ Walking On Sunshine.
One last tip I’d like to give… quoting the Sixteen Candles movie tagline, “It’s the time of your life that may last a lifetime.”
All the best,
