Pinterest is a seriously inspiring (and addictive!) site out there that I could not imagine planning my wedding, or really any event, without! Since today is Wedding Wednesday, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to share this incredible and free planning resource.

Pinterest is a virtual pinboard, where you pin your interests. Hence that catchy name! As they say on their website, “Pinterest lets you organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. People use pinboards to plan their weddings, decorate their homes, and organize their favorite recipes. Best of all, you can browse pinboards created by other people. Browsing pinboards is a fun way to discover new things and get inspiration from people who share your interests”. Sounds pretty fantastic, right?!

While currently planning my own July wedding, I’ve used Pinterest to find inspiration and ideas for just about everything!

If you want to get some inspiration for your big day, all you have to do is search “wedding” and you instantly get visual ideas. The best part though, you can then re-pin your favorite ideas to your own board for safe keeping! You’ll never lose an idea you saw again, or spend an hour flipping through a wedding magazine searching for a perfect idea you swear you saw in there!

Let’s say you want to get more specific, and search for wedding bouquet inspiration. Your results might look something like this -

Pinterest is oh-so amazing. Search what you are looking for, pick your favorite inspiration, and pin it to a board of your own. They pins will be there whenever you need them.

Bride & Groom: Anisha and Ace

Location: Valley of Fire Overton, Nevada

Inspiration: From the moment I met the couple, I was inspired. The bride, Anisha, is gorgeous and was even more so with her Sari, the henna on her hands and her accessories. Just her truth to her Indian culture was an inspiration in itself. Photography was very important to her and she came to me with ideas of the images she wanted – intimate, scenic shots that captured both details but also with depth and creativity.

Style: The things that I really like to capture are intense color, details, moments and the love between people. I like to play on things as they really are, but with a little drama. For instance, a normal sunny day can become a dramatic silhouette with intense sun rays. I also like to show people what they don’t see with their eye, but what I can create through the use of a camera. I like to find ways to use light, whether through available daylight, dramatic flash, or even a streetlight. Mood is an important aspect of an image to me.

The day at the Valley of Fire was perfect; the time of day, it was sunny and warm and there was just enough wind to catch her hair. The Valley of Fire is known for all its natural red rock and that’s what I normally shoot. Because of her red dress, I chose to shoot on a lot of the white rock to juxtapose her red dress against the landscape and give the images another-worldly appearance. Although we were in the Valley of Fire, it was easy to imagine we could be anywhere other than Las Vegas with our surroundings combined with her gorgeous sari and henna.

Photographers Impressions: I loved working with Anisha’s details and showing off the nuances of her attire. The almost hidden hints of henna on her feet, the way her sari wrapped over her shoulder and the way her hair flowed naturally in the wind. The time of the day really allowed me to capture some awesome rays from the sun and silhouettes. Having the sand spill through her hands and rings helped me capture the essence of her ethnicity, the wedding day and the location.

The interaction between the two, as Ace led Anisha over the rocks was really special. He would tenderly hold her hand as they climbed the rocks and he guided her; it was really special. I really think what made the shoot was that they were so into each other – the way they looked at each other, caressed each other, etc. They were truly happy and it showed.

Who or what inspires you: There are so many photographers – new, old, classic, and contemporary. I work with an amazing group of people who inspire me every day. Most importantly, I’m inspired by the happiness I see on a client’s face when they see their images and know that the beautiful person I captured is them.

Oh Valentine’s Day, how I’ve always adored you… But how are you nearly here so soon? I feel like I was celebrating the new year just yesterday! Despite how quickly Valentine’s Day will soon be here, I have no plans for the day yet. I do know that I plan on wearing something fun and festive like the outfit above. Perfect for a day that’s destined to be full of love and chocolate!

How much fun does a build-your-own cupcake bar sound?! It seems like it would be such a fun thing to do at a wedding shower, baby shower, or any type of party! A “DIY” cupcake bar is a fun twist on the more popular dessert bars and tables, and I’m looking forward to having one at my own wedding shower later this year.

Bake a few batches of different cupcake flavors. Chocolate, vanilla, red velvet, or whatever your sweet tooth wants! Whip up some different frosting options, and that is it. You’re ready for set up.

If you don’t want to bake your own cupcakes and mix up some frostings, have no fear! Why not have a cupcake topping bar? Pick up the most appealing cupcakes you spy and a variety of toppings. Berries, sprinkles, chocolate chips, and caramel sauce are all great options. The set up can be just as cute too! Check out this amazing cupcake topping bar below.

Spring is just around the corner! It’s less than two months away, and I cannot wait for Spring’s arrival. I also cannot wait for the arrival of Spring weddings. I absolutely adore them! With Spring now in sight, I thought today would be the perfect time to create this pastel wedding inspiration board. Our first Spring wedding inspiration of the year!

This combination of peach and lavender is just oh-so dreamy, don’t you think? I think they make for perfect Spring wedding colors.

We love the special connection to Jenny’s father, a former Vietnam Veteran, in this shot which includes his dog tags that he gave her when she turned 16 after having them covered in platinum and diamond.

Bride & Groom: Jenny & Blake

Location: Dallas, Texas

Most memorable aspect of this shoot: The bride is a choreographer and most of the bridal party and female guests where all either former or current Mavericks dancers, Rhythm & Blues Dancers or Dallas cowboy cheerleaders. There was a moment right after the cake cutting where a friend walks out like he is a waiter with plastic dishes. Another girl crashes into him and there was a big commotion and then the band kicked in and a flash mob broke out that Jenny had choreographed- all the dancers in the audience came out and rocked the floor… it was a great moment

Style: There are moments that you capture in a photo journalistic way but the majority of the day was spent with intentional shooting. We wanted to capture the beauty of their day in an intentional artistic and creative way that didn’t leave moments that we knew were important to “chance.”

The most important thing to us is light over location; find beautiful light. Highlight special connections like a bride and father’s love for her. Something that you can appreciate today, in ten years you love and in 30 if he was to pass away, you cherish it, not to mention the legacy it provides your daughters one day about what a father’s love looks like. It’s a legacy.

For the groom, we wanted him to be shot like we would want to be shot ourselves. Like a cool guy, James Bond-esque with a little mystery.

Inspiration: In our photography world we have many friends who are our iron sharpening iron…for weddings there’s Luke’s wedding photographer “Jerry Ghionis” and another dear friend of ours “Mike Colon.” Our biggest inspiration comes from shooting together as a father and son-it’s a special opportunity to share in this moment in life together and create something larger than ourselves. Luke’s beautiful wife Bethany and the new life they are creating together and our families inspire us. But the ultimate creativity and inspiration comes from our relationship with our Heavenly Father.

The best part of it all was that the wedding was a true reflection of their personal style, with a touch of Southern hospitality. These two couldn’t be more in love and happy together.

Molly Sims and Scott Stuber had quite the Classic California wedding in Napa Valley late last year, and it was certainly quite the timeless, elegant, and unforgettable celebration.

One of my favorite designs is this Deco Letterpress Invitation. Anything art deco related I’m immediately drawn towards, and with that pop orange there was no way I could get this invitation off my mind. One thing led to another, and I was dreaming up this entire Orange Art Deco wedding scheme -

Headbands were spotted across the red carpet at The Golden Globes over the weekend, and I was loving every moment of the Hollywood headband parade. I instantly realized if I wasn’t rocking a headband on my wedding day this summer, there would be plenty of other brides wearing one on their big day this year.

Headbands are a lovely way to add some more color, jewels, or personality to your wedding ensemble. I love how Michelle Williams completely changed up her adorable pixie cut with the addition of that stunning art deco inspired headband. It’s a fun idea for all the the brides out there who aren’t too crazy about growing out their locks just for one day.

These are a few seriously dreamy headbands made by some of my favorite wedding accessory designers, Twigs & Honey and Tessa Kim. If you were inspired by Golden Globe hairstyles for your wedding day (like myself) there are so many stunning headbands out there. A lovely headband could be the perfect finishing touch to any and every kind of hairstyle.

Bride & Groom: Adiclere & Troy

Location: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas; Las Vegas, NV

Memorable Moment:  Every time I even mentioned Troy’s name, Adiclere’s eyes would light up and she’d let out a beaming smile.

Inspiration:  A bride never feels more beautiful than on her wedding day, and I love being able to capture images where she looks as good as she felt. I strive to create iconic, timeless images that capture how enchanting weddings can be. I love how photographers like Marcus Bell, Jerry Ghionis, and JB & DeEtte Sallee create epic scenes of touching moments that look like illustrations from a fairy tale.

Style: Lately I’ve found myself inspired by the influx of great cinematography on television, especially for period pieces like The Tudors and Mad Men. Once I saw the wine cellar, I was instantly reminded of Boardwalk Empire and its risqué opulence, and it seemed like a great fit for the sultry-suave couple. Plus, it’s not hard to feel inspired when you see a couple light up whenever their eyes meet.

One of my favorite elements of the Golden Globes is the fashion. Not only does the award show’s star-studded arrival reveal fashion trends in Hollywood for the upcoming year, but it also is a major trendsetting event in the world of wedding fashion!

Pale, nude, muted, and ivory gowns dominated the red carpet, many of which would be perfect as a wedding gown. Or work as some major wedding gown inspiration! These stars’ looks were five of my favorite gowns from the evening, and they would all seamlessly translate into seriously fantastic wedding dresses.

From Julie Bowen’s romantic and effortless dress, to Jessica Chastain’s retro chic stunner, to Jessica Biel’s edgier lacy number – there is Golden Globe fashion inspiration for every bride!
